The Winding Road partners with artisans in developing countries to provide fair wages, safe working conditions, and economic opportunity. Their handmade handbag collections include Ata grass styles woven by women in Bali and rattan bags crafted in Java using traditional techniques and sustainably sourced materials. They’ve also worked with felt artisans in Nepal since 2012, helping a small workshop grow into a business that now employs over 75 women. Today, their goods are carried in hundreds of stores across the U.S., with a portion of profits supporting school tuition for several artisans’ children.
